Our family has been trying to have an adventure every weekend. We will go to a local theme park, take in a summer fair, go on a hike or even have a picnic at a local park. There are lots of fun activities for children that take place during the summer, but you don’t have to go far to do them. You can stay local and even enjoy an adventure in your own backyard with some fun activities like the color mixing art I’ll be sharing later in this post.
Thank you to Fruit Shoot TM for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to try a summer family adventure!
Are you headed on a family adventure? Fruit Shoot TM is a fruit juice drink for kids that makes having an adventure a lot easier. It is now available nationwide in the U.S. and is the top kids’ brand for parents in Europe. In fact, 2 bottles of Fruit Shoot TM are sold every second in the U.K.
Fruit Shoot TM is available in a variety of regular and no sugar added flavors such as:
- Apple (regular and no added sugar)
- Berry Burst (regular)
- Orange (regular)
- Strawberry & Raspberry (regular and no added sugar)
- Wild Berry Grape (no added sugar)
The no sugar added flavors contain 20 calories or less and 3 grams of sugar. My kids love the taste and I love that they are free of artificial flavors and high fructose corn syrup.
Fruit Shoot TM is the perfect drink for an adventure with kids because of it’s re-sealable bottle. It is perfect for the busy kid on the go. If you have ever given your child a flimsy pouch drink or screw cap drink and had to deal with spills and a messy clean up, then you will appreciate this bottle. It is easy to grab some bottles, throw them in your bag and give them to kids in the car or at your destination.
We recently spent a day on an outdoor adventure. We had no particular destination in mind. It was one of those perfect summer days – not too hot, with a slight breeze. We just wandered around the neighborhood, enjoyed nature and the scenery and finished up with some fun times at the playground. We learned that fun adventures can happen anywhere – you don’t need to go far.
Fruit Shoot TM was the perfect accompaniment to our day. It is made for adventures. The kids got thirsty from all the walking around and running they did, and the delicious fruity taste of Fruit Shoot TM really hit the spot. They were able to carry their bottles around without spilling thanks to the re-sealable cap.
Fruit Shoot TM made it easier to enjoy our summer adventure because it eliminated the typical “I’m thirsty” comments that usually occur when we are out and about. The kids were able to keep their bottles with them and drink when they pleased.
If you have an active lifestyle like we do, then you need to try Fruit Shoot TM for your next big adventure.
When we got home from our outdoor adventure, we had three empty Fruit Shoot TM bottles with us. One of my daughters suggested we fill the empty fill the empty Fruit Shoot TM bottles with paint and use them for another fun family activity! Since my kids have been really into color mixing lately, I suggested we create squirt bottle art and try pouring two colors of paint into each bottle and seeing what happens when we squirt them out.
As always, please supervise your children during these activities.
For this activity you will need:
- Fruit Shoot TM bottles (empty and cleaned)
- Various colors of tempera paint
- White paper
Because of the potential for mess, this is one of those fun activities for children that is best done outdoors. To begin, pour two colors of paint into an empty and cleaned Fruit Shoot TM bottle. Have your kids try and think about what colors they want to mix together and what they predict will happen when they do. If you have older kids, you can let them do the pouring, but it can spill over. We just placed a paper underneath to catch any extra paint. Fill the Fruit Shoot TM bottle 1/4 of the way with each color of paint that you want to mix.
Screw the cap back on the bottle and make sure the re-sealable cap is down. You can either shake the bottle vigorously (my kids loved this part!) to thoroughly mix the paint or just turn the bottle over to get more of a swirled paint effect.
Once you decide how you want the paint to be mixed, grab a piece of paper, pull up the re-sealable cap on the bottle and squeeze out the paint.
It was so much fun watching the colors combine as we made art. My kids liked seeing which of their color predictions came true.
Another benefit to doing this color mixing activity outdoors is that any paint that accidentally gets on the ground can be easily washed away using a hose. This is one of those fun activities for children that is more about process than product. While we certainly loved the look of our finished artwork, the real fun came from mixing the colors, squeezing them out of the Fruit Shoot TM bottle and discovering what happened.
