5 Best Ways to Have a Good Morning
It is amazing what such a simple task can do. No matter what you are dealing with, you can always find something to be thankful for. Keep a notebook near your bed and start off the day by making a list of a few things you are grateful for each morning. Sometimes this will be easy to do and you list will be overflowing with ideas. When life’s storms come, you may struggle to find something to be thankful for. When that happens I try to just look at the basics. Do I have a warm, dry place to sleep? Do I have enough food? These are things that can go on my list.
Wake up 30 minutes early
Okay, this one sounds crazy. It might seem like getting to sleep in would result in a better morning, but if you are less rushed and stressed in the morning, you will be calmer and better able to handle any bumps in the road that come up. There is something special about waking up before your husband and kids and having the quiet house to yourself. You can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, prepare the kids lunches, or just read a bit from an inspirational book.
Inspiration takes many forms, but when you chose to nurture your spiritual side, you fill your soul with inspiration each morning. There are many books out there that include short inspirational thoughts each day. I love these because they don’t take a lot of time but they can set an intention for how you want the day to go.
There are a number of reasons to exercise in the morning. Obviously exercise is good for you, but doing it in the morning takes it off of your to-do list for the day. You won’t go through the day feeling guilty that you need to exercise or feeling bad about yourself if you don’t. When you do it first thing, you take away the pressure that it can create. Plus, exercise just makes you feel good, powerful and strong which are great qualities to take into a day.
Fill yourself with good stuff
It might be tempting to turn on the news each morning, but I have found that whenever I do, I end up feeling angry and hopeless. Now I am not advocating that you bury your head in the sand, but starting out the day with news stories that frighten you and stress you out will not help you have a good morning. You want the information you take in each morning to be information that will make you feel good about the world.
