We were sent some Alpha-Bits cereal to try and I could not resist using them to create a learning activity. Alpha-Bits are perfect for using in a learning activity since each letter shaped piece can help kids become familiar with the alphabet. My kids love to play with their food, and when they play with Alpha-Bits they are learning and reinforcing letter concepts. This Fall Word Game is a simple way to make snack time fun and educational.
You will need:
- Alpha-Bits cereal
- Fall Flashcards (free printable below)
I created some free Fall Flashcards which you can download below to use with this activity. The flashcards contain Fall words and images.
To download the Fall Flashcards, click here.
Provide your child with a bowl of Alpha-Bits cereal and encourage them to find the letters to make the word on the flashcard and place the letters in the boxes.
My daughter was really concentrating as she tried to spell the word Fall.
Our box of cereal only had only a few M’s and W’s and we had to work hard to find them. You may have to get creative to spell some of the words. When we couldn’t find a “U” that we needed for turkey, we made one by biting a little off a D.
This game works well for various ages. My twins are in Kindergarten and they worked on sounding out words and letter sounds, while my 3 year old practiced her letter recognition as she searched through the Alpha-Bits.
This Fall Word Game would be fun for your little guests to play on Thanksgiving as the adults prepare the food.

When we finished our Fall Word Game, we ate our Alpha-Bits of course. In addition to being part of a great breakfast, Alpha-Bits makes a nutritious snack since it contains 20g of whole grains and 12 essential vitamins and
