Do you remember tracing and coloring your hand as a kid to make a cute turkey? This Handprint Turkey Place Card craft is a spin-off on that idea. Rather than hand tracing and coloring, we are painting hands to make a turkey. This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Huggies®. As always, all opinions are my own.

⭐Why You'll Love This Hand Print Turkey Place Card
What I really love about this activity is that in making place cards for friends and family that will be joining us for Thanksgiving dinner, my kids are doing their own kind of giving. They are taking time out to be grateful for those friends and family and express that thanks with a small token of affection.
🎨Supply Notes
- White cardstock
- Fall colors of tempera paint - we used red, orange, yellow and brown
- Paint brush
- Paper towel roll
- Scissors
- Black marker
- Googly eye
- Glue
- Huggies® Wipes
📋Step By Step Instructions
STEP 1: Dip your brush in brown paint and paint your child's hand and thumb with a thick layer of paint. If you don't use a lot of paint on the palm, it will dry before you get the fingers painted.
STEP 2: Paint the rest of your child's fingers with the other colors of paint, remembering to use a liberal amount of paint.
STEP 3: Have your child carefully push their hand onto the white cardstock, careful not to move their hand.
STEP 4: Have the child lift up their hand to reveal a multicolored handprint.
STEP 5: Let the painted hand turkey dry and add a googly eye with glue to the thumb.
STEP 6: Cut out a yellow construction paper beak and draw a red waddle under the thumb on the cardstock.
STEP 7: Cut out the turkey handprint card. If your child is pretty good with scissors, they can do this themselves.
STEP 8: Cut off an inch from the bottom of a paper towel roll and glue or tape it to the back of the handprint to allow the turkey to stand upright.
Your guests will love this adorable turkey craft!
🤷🏻♀️FAQs
What do I do if the paint starts to dry before we can make the handprint?
Simply re-paint the part of the hand that has dried.
📝Expert Tips
Tip 1: You can use these cute turkeys to decorate for Thanksgiving or add a sticker with your guest's name to turn these into fun place cards.
Tip 2: After making these Thanksgiving place cards, you will also be left with a child with a messy hand. This is no problem if you have Huggies®. In the past, we have used Huggies® Wipes to help us clean up the mess when we made a Rainbow Handprint Flower Pot, created Painting with Bubble Wrap and baked up S'mores Bars. Clearly, I am a fan of letting Huggies® Wipes handle the cleanup.
