Have you been apple picking yet? When we lived in New York we used to go every Fall. There were so many wonderful varieties of apples to choose from. Here in California, apple picking is not as popular. There is an apple orchard a few hours away from us, but we have yet to make the trip there. So I am left to get my delicious Fall apples at the farmer's market or grocery store. My absolute favorite way to enjoy apples is with with this easy Pumpkin Dip. Apples and pumpkins just seem synonymous with Fall, so why not bring the two together? There is a special ingredient in this pumpkin dip that makes it extra creamy and works really well with the apples. Can you guess what it is? Thanks to General Mills for sponsoring this conversation. All opinions are my own.
I have made a very basic version of this pumpkin dip in the past that consisted of pureed pumpkin, pudding mix and cool whip. And it's been fine. But let's face it, if you are hosting a gathering or attending a party where you need to bring a dish, fine won't do. You want something that is going to wow people and keep them coming back for more. Enter this pumpkin dip! I added some brown sugar, cream cheese and my special ingredient - Yoplait light Pumpkin Pie yogurt - to make this dip irresistible.
Yes, you read right. Yoplait has a light Pumpkin Pie Yogurt which is every bit as delicious as it sounds, especially if you're a pumpkin pie lover like me. You can pick some up at Walmart, which is what I did when I was on my weekly Walmart yogurt run.
Of course, while I was there I could not resist getting Yoplait Greek 100 Caramel Apple flavor. I just love all these Fall flavors, don't you?
Adding Yoplait light Pumpkin Pie Yogurt to this recipe gives it more calcium and protein than a traditional pumpkin dip while contributing to its creamy texture.
This recipe is a quick one to put together. I used a mixer to combine all the ingredients, but you can also just stir them by hand. The most time consuming part is waiting for it set and thicken a bit in the refrigerator.
My kids love snacking on this pumpkin dip after school. I like to make a big batch, place individual servings in small cups, cover with plastic wrap, and store in the refrigerator. When they come home from school they can easily grab the dip and some apples or crackers and enjoy.
We love serving this pumpkin dip with graham crackers as well. If you are serving this to a crowd, you can place the dip in a large bowl and surround it with crackers and apple slices.
This is the perfect season to enjoy this creamy Yoplait filled pumpkin dip. So slice up a variety of apples and take a dip!
