We love making messes here. You may have figured that out by the name of the blog. One way we love to make a mess is by using paint. Ever since my kids were very little, we have been painting with toys and objects we have found around the house. Shape Paintings Made with Mega Bloks are an example of this. We used a favorite toy to study shapes and create interesting paintings. For more art with shapes, check out Contact Paper Shape Art.
Shape Paintings made with Mega Bloks

Directions:
Before we started, I talked with the kids about the various shapes of the Mega Bloks, and how they each had a different number of circles on top. They noticed rectangles, squares and circles. I demonstrated how they could dip the circles into the paint and then push them onto the paper. The Mega Bloks were just the right size for them, as they were able to hold them and dip them in the paint without getting their hands that dirty.

These shape paintings made with mega bloks are fun for even young toddlers.
Kids can really experiment with this type of art activity. My daughter decided to try and see how many stamps she could make without dipping again in the paint.

One of my daughters accidentally dipped the other side of her Mega Blok into the paint. At first she was upset, but when I suggested she try painting with that side she was thrilled with the resulting rectangles.
