This Irish Soda Bread Recipe uses buttermilk and baking soda to give it a delightfully light, tender crumb and a perfect, crisp crust. Just the thing to make to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt and softened butter.

Mix in the buttermilk and egg until dough starts to form, then fold in raisins.

Knead dough on a floured surface.

Form into a round loaf. Brush the top of the loaf with melted butter then sprinkle sugar on top. Cut an X into the top of the loaf using a sharp knife.

Bake on a baking sheet for 1 hour. Enjoy!
