St. Patrick's Day Activity with Straws

St. Patrick's Day Straw Art Activity - Decorate a shamrock by stamping with a straw.

Instructions

  • Print out the shamrock template or draw one freehand.
  • Pour green paint into a small cup. Have your child dip the end of the straw into the green paint and stamp it onto the shamrock to make a small circle.
  • Try to fill as much of the shamrock as you can with small green circles. Kids can stamp outside the shamrock as well since the shamrock will be cut out.
  • When the paint dries, cut out the shamrocks and glue them on construction paper. Older kids can cut out the shamrocks themselves, younger kids need help.

Notes

Getting the straw to make a circle with the paint will take some practice. We had some fun practicing our straw stamping on a sheet of scrap paper.
We used green construction paper for the background, but the shamrocks would really pop off white construction paper as well.
