Roll out a puff pastry sheet so that it is somewhat thinner than when it comes from the package.

Use a donut cutter or different sized lids to cut donuts from the puff pastry.

Drop the donuts one at a time into the hot oil. Cooking time should be around 30 seconds per side. When the donuts are golden brown on one side, flip them.

When you remove the donuts from the oil, put them aside and allow them to cool on a wire cooling rack.

Sprinkle powdered sugar over the donuts after about 5 minutes of cooling, and serve immediately!
