Materials

  • 1 piece White cardstock
  • Fall colors of tempera paint we used red, orange, yellow and brown
  • Paint brush
  • Paper towel roll
  • Scissors
  • Black marker
  • 1 Googly eye
  • Glue

Instructions

  • Dip your brush in brown paint and paint your child's hand and thumb with a thick layer of paint. If you don't use a lot of paint on the palm, it will dry before you get the fingers painted.
  • Paint the rest of your child's fingers with the other colors of paint, remembering to use a liberal amount of paint.
  • Have your child carefully push their hand onto the white cardstock, careful not to move their hand.
  • Have the child lift up their hand to reveal a multicolored handprint.
  • Let the painted hand turkey dry and add a googly eye with glue to the thumb.
  • Cut out a yellow construction paper beak and draw a red waddle under the thumb on the cardstock.
  • Cut out the turkey handprint card. If your child is pretty good with scissors, they can do this themselves.
  • Cut off an inch from the bottom of a paper towel roll and glue or tape it to the back of the handprint to allow the turkey to stand upright.
