Materials

  • Regular size popsicle sticks - make sure they are 4.5 inches in length
  • short popsicle sticks 2.5 inches in length
  • Red paint & paint brush
  • Black and white paint pen or marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Red craft pom poms
  • Black construction paper
  • Black Pipe cleaner
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions

  • Evenly line up 7 of the longer popsicle sticks.
  • Using a hot glue gun, run a line of hot glue on the entire length of a small popsicle stick & press it horizontally onto one end of the 7 sticks. Repeat this step on the other end as well.
  • Turn the board over and paint with an even layer of red paint. Let the paint dry.
  • When the paint dries, it is time to glue the eyes in place. Then use a paint pen or marker to draw on some hair, a heart shaped nose and a happy smile.
  • Draw some festive hearts on the body using your marker. This Love Bug Valentine's Craft is coming together!
  • To make the antennae, cut the pipe cleaner in half and attach them to the back of the popsicle sticks. If you wish, you can glue some craft pom poms to the end of each antennae.
  • Cut two hearts out of black construction paper to make the wings. Feel free to decorate them with a white marker or paint pen. Attach the wings with glue to the back of the board.
