  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, sugar, lemon zest, and salt using a whisk.
  • Lay both sheets of thawed puff pastry on a floured work surface and roll them out slightly.
  • Brush egg wash over the top of the first layer.
  • Place the second sheet of puff pastry over the first one and gently press.
  • Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the puff pastry into 8 small rectangles.Use a fork to poke holes down the center of each rectangle.
  • Brush egg wash over the top of each rectangle.
  • Fill a piping bag with the cream cheese mixture and pipe it evenly onto each rectangle.
  • Bake the cheese danishes for 18-20 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
