  • 21 oz cherry pie filling
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Separate the two pie crusts that come in the package and unroll them.
  • Cut 3-4 circles out of each pie crust.
  • Fill each dough circle with 1-2 tablespoons of the cherry pie filling.
  • Fold the top part of the dough over the filled part of the dough and press down with your fingers.
  • Transfer the turnovers onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • With a sharp knife, cut 3 small slits at the top of each of the turnovers to allow steam to escape.
  • Crack an egg and beat in a small bowl. Using a pastry brush, apply the egg to the top of each cherry turnover.
  • Bake turnovers a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes, or until the tops have turned a golden brown.
  • Let these cool for a few minutes when they come out of the oven.

Notes

  • Seal the the dough well to be sure the filling doesn't leak out during baking.
  • If you don't have a round cookie cutter you can use a round glass with a large opening instead.
