- 1 package pre-made pie crust contains 2 pie crusts
- 21 oz cherry pie filling
- 1 egg
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Separate the two pie crusts that come in the package and unroll them.
Cut 3-4 circles out of each pie crust.
Fill each dough circle with 1-2 tablespoons of the cherry pie filling.
Fold the top part of the dough over the filled part of the dough and press down with your fingers.
Transfer the turnovers onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
With a sharp knife, cut 3 small slits at the top of each of the turnovers to allow steam to escape.
Crack an egg and beat in a small bowl. Using a pastry brush, apply the egg to the top of each cherry turnover.
Bake turnovers a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes, or until the tops have turned a golden brown.
Let these cool for a few minutes when they come out of the oven.
- Seal the the dough well to be sure the filling doesn't leak out during baking.
- If you don't have a round cookie cutter you can use a round glass with a large opening instead.
