Ice Cream Edible Playdough Recipe

Materials

  • 15.6 oz Premade frosting - white not whipped, 3 containers
  • Food coloring 3 colors of your choice
  • 5 ¼ - 5 ½ C Powdered sugar
  • Medium bowl
  • Spatula
  • ½ C Measuring cup
  • ¼ C Measuring cup
  • Hand mixer
  • Ice cream scoop
  • Cups
  • Sprinkles
  • Cones

Instructions

  • Add 1 cup (about ½ a premade tube) of frosting to a large bowl. Add food coloring to the frosting until you get your desired color.
  • Add ½ cup of powdered sugar to the frosting. Use a hand mixer to mix the frosting and powdered sugar throughly.
  • Add another ½ cup of powdered sugar at a time until you have added 1 ½ total cups.
  • Finally, add the remaining ¼ cup of powdered sugar and mix the dough by hand.
  • If the dough is sticky add a sprinkle of powdered sugar and knead. Continue to add a small amount of powdered sugar until the dough is no longer sticky.
  • Repeat these steps until all the colors are made.
  • Add ice cream cones (real and toy ones), ice cream scoops, sprinkles, cups and spoons so kids can play.

Notes

  • Store edible ice cream playdough in a container with a tight-fitting lid or a plastic zip bag. Keep the play dough in the refrigerator.
  • Keep a close eye on children as they engage in playdough activities, particularly if they have a tendency to put things in their mouths.
