How To Make Edible Playdough
Scoop some frosting in a bowl and add drops of food coloring until you get the color you want. Mix the frosting and powdered sugar in a bowl to make this edible playdough. Use a hand mixer to blend them together, adding more powdered sugar gradually until the mixture thickens.
Once it’s well-mixed, add a bit more powdered sugar and stir and knead the dough by hand until it’s no longer sticky. This is a great job for kids! Repeat this process for each color of frosting you have.
When you have made all the colors you want, your batch of "ice cream is ready! Set up your ice cream cones, scoops, sprinkles, cups, and spoons. Kids can get creative by making their own ice cream masterpieces. They can also use this in a pretend-play ice cream shop.

Ice Cream Edible Playdough Recipe
Materials
- 15.6 oz Premade frosting - white not whipped, 3 containers
- Food coloring 3 colors of your choice
- 5 ¼ - 5 ½ C Powdered sugar
- Medium bowl
- Spatula
- ½ C Measuring cup
- ¼ C Measuring cup
- Hand mixer
- Ice cream scoop
- Cups
- Sprinkles
- Cones
Instructions
- Add 1 cup (about ½ a premade tube) of frosting to a large bowl. Add food coloring to the frosting until you get your desired color.
- Add ½ cup of powdered sugar to the frosting. Use a hand mixer to mix the frosting and powdered sugar throughly.
- Add another ½ cup of powdered sugar at a time until you have added 1 ½ total cups.
- Finally, add the remaining ¼ cup of powdered sugar and mix the dough by hand.
- If the dough is sticky add a sprinkle of powdered sugar and knead. Continue to add a small amount of powdered sugar until the dough is no longer sticky.
- Repeat these steps until all the colors are made.
- Add ice cream cones (real and toy ones), ice cream scoops, sprinkles, cups and spoons so kids can play.
