  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • Chop bacon into ½ inch pieces then cook it over medium heat until crisp. Turn the bacon often and drain grease from pan when cooked.
  • Chop the tomato and green onion.
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish, and place the tater tots in the pan. Bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the casserole from the oven. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  • Sprinkle on the bacon and bake for 5 more minutes.
  • Remove the casserole from the oven and top with dollops of sour cream. Sprinkle chopped tomatoes on top.
  • Top with chopped green onions and serve.

  • If you like a little heat add some diced jalapeños or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper.
  • To make this dish vegetarian, skip the bacon and incorporate some hearty vegetables into your loaded tater tot casserole. Some good choices are sautéed mushrooms, red and green peppers, or spinach.
