    • It can be displayed for St. Patrick's day
    • Colorful craft that will entertain them
    • Only requires a few craft supplies

    🖍️Supply Notes

    • Pencil - to make your shamrock shape on the plate.
    • Paper plate - it is thicker than regular paper and circular shaped so it works perfectly for this craft.

    📋Step by step instructions

STEP 1: To make this fun St. Patrick's day craft, start by folding a white paper plate in half. Most paper plates have a ridged border. Trace this border to form the inside circle. Using a pencil, draw half a shamrock in the middle. When you do so, make sure to connect the bottom of the shamrock with the border.

STEP 2: Cut out the shamrock shape with scissors, leaving the stem intact.

STEP 3: Keeping the plate folded in half, use the hole punch to punch holes around the entire inside of the plate and on the edge of the shamrock.

This step really helps kids with important skills like hand strength.

STEP 4: To start lacing, get the red yarn and push it through the bottom left hole. Make a knot to secure the yarn. Then lace it through the holes in the shamrock to the holes around the border.

Check out the subscription box from The Creative Girls Club if you want to find more entertaining projects. Girls get two kits full with creative fun each month. The best thing is that the craft may be completed with little adult supervision.

    ✂️Expert Tips

Tip 1: If you warp the end of the yarn with a piece of tape it will prevent the yarn from fraying while your child is lacing.

Tip 2: If you want to display this, really pops with black or green cardstock paper in the background.

    🤷🏻‍♀️Craft FAQs

Can I use a styrofoam plate for this paper plate St Patrick's Day shamrock lacing craft?

It would be harder to punch holes through and the end result would not look as clean. For these reasons, I would only use paper plates.

I have a friend who works in a Senior Center, and I am going to show her this. It would be beautiful hanging on their doors and get those fingers moving!

Do you think it would be weird to have my kiddos do this craft? I love it so much, so what if they're thirteen and in high school!
