I was compensated by Wet Ones for this post and I am part of the Mom It Forward Blogger Network.  Can I confess that I breathed a sigh of relief when I dropped my kids off for the first day of school? It's not that I don't adore my kids, but when they spend too much time together at home they argue and bicker like nobody's business. Having been an only child, this kind of behavior confounds me. I cannot understand what joy a kid would get out of pushing their sibling's buttons. My husband tells me if I had siblings I would get it. So, as you can imagine, the start of a school year is a particularly exciting time for me. I love everything about it except for the fact that my kids will be in an environment that has its fair share of germs. Let's face it, schools aren't known for being germ free. That's why I send my kids to school with these Wet Ones travel packs which are the perfect size to slip in a lunch box or backpack. Plus they are great to use to clean up from this Sidewalk Paint Word Tracing Game. You'll also love this Sensory Word Hunt..

As you can see, the Wet Ones travel pack easily fits in a pocket, making them just the right size to help clean up sticky and dirty hands when soap and water aren't available.

I can now send my kids to school with cheese puffs and other snacks which get their hands messy. They just grab a Wet Ones Antibacterial Hand Wipe from their bag, clean off their hands, slip it back in their bag pocket and get on with their day.

Wet Ones Antibacterial Wipes also come in this handy 40 count canister which fits in the cup holder of my minivan. Wet Ones kills 99.99% of germs which make them a back to school essential at our house.

My kids know that when they get in the car after school, they grab a wipe and clean their hands. Wet Ones are hypoallergenic and contain aloe and lanolin so they are delicate enough for little hands.

Wet Ones are also great for when you are involved in a fun but messy project and don't want to be interrupted with hand washing. We recently played a Sidewalk Paint Word Tracing Game where we used some homemade sidewalk paint. To do this activity you will need:

    • ¼ cup of cornstarch
    • ¼ cup of water
    • Few squirts of liquid watercolors or food coloring
    • Containers for paint
    • Paint brushes
    • Sidewalk chalk

    Making sidewalk paint

For each color of sidewalk paint you plan to make, mix together ¼ cup of cornstarch, ¼ cup of water and a few drops of color.

Before the activity, head outside and write some words that your child can sound out or read on the pavement using sidewalk chalk.

You will want to have a smock on hand for this activity. Before your child paints the words, see if they can read them. Then have them trace the words with the sidewalk paint. If the sidewalk paint has been sitting for a while, it will require some stirring.

My daughter had fun deciding which color paint to use on which word.

This paint dries very quickly, which is helpful when you have a kid who sits on the words she has just painted.

As fun as this word tracing game can be, it is messy. My daughter didn't want to stop the fun to go in and clean her hands, and because we had our Wet Ones Antibacterial Hand Wipes with us, she didn't have to.

Just a few quick swipes got her hands clean again so she could get back to the important business of painting and playing!
