Ingredients For Air Fryer Cherry Crisp

    • Frozen Cherries: I use the pitted and halved ones from the freezer section. You can thaw them first or use them frozen. Thawing helps them cook more evenly.
    • Real Maple Syrup: Adds just the right amount of sweetness.
    • Butter: I use it melted to help everything stick together and add richness.
    • Almond Extract: This is optional, but I really recommend it. Just a little bit makes the cherry flavor really stand out.
    • Granola: Any crunchy granola works well to give that crisp topping texture.

Kitchen Tools For Making This Cherry Crisp

To make this easy air fryer cherry crisp, you need just a few basic tools that make the whole process easy. I've linked my favorite versions below.

Whether you use a dedicated air fryer or one that has other functions, either will work as long as you can fit a baking dish in there. An air fryer safe baking dish is really important since regular glass dishes can crack from the intense heat.

How To Make Air Fryer Cherry Crisp

    1. Get your air fryer ready: I preheat mine to 350°F while I'm mixing everything.

    2. Mix the cherry filling: I combine the thawed cherries, maple syrup, melted butter, and almond extract in a large mixing bowl. I like to stir it really well so every cherry gets coated.

Maple syrup is poured into a glass bowl of dried cranberries and frozen cherries, then gently stirred with a wooden spoon.

    3. Start cooking the fruit: Pour the mixture into the baking dish and put it in the air fryer for 15 minutes. Halfway through, open it up and give everything a stir.

    4. Add the crunchy topping: After 15 minutes, I remove it from the oven and sprinkle the granola right on top of the hot cherry mixture. I try to spread it around evenly so every bite has some crunch.

    5. Finish cooking: Then it goes back into the oven for 2-3 more minutes. Watch the granola carefully to make sure it doesn't burn. You just want to cook until golden brown.

    6. Serve it warm: This tastes best when it's still warm from the air fryer, but be sure to let it cool for a few minutes before serving. I usually serve it with vanilla ice cream, and my family thinks it's the best dessert ever.

Tips For Cherry Crisp With Frozen Cherries

Tip 1: Thaw your cherries first if you have time. I just leave them in a bowl on the counter for about 30 minutes.

Tip 2: Don't skip stirring halfway through. The cherries on the bottom can get too hot while the ones on top stay cool, so stirring helps everything cook at the same rate.

Tip 3: Use an air fryer safe dish that fits comfortably in your basket.

FAQs For Air Fryer Cherry Dessert

Can I use fresh cherries instead of frozen?

Yes, fresh cherries work great too. You'll need about 3 cups of pitted and halved fresh cherries. The cooking time might be a minute or two less since fresh cherries have less water content.

How should I store leftover cherry crisp?

You can store this in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can eat it cold or warm it up in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes to crisp up the granola again.

Can I make this without the almond extract?

Yes, while the almond extract adds a nice flavor boost, the recipe works fine without it. You could also try vanilla extract instead if that's what you have on hand.

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups frozen cherries pitted and halved
    • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
    • 1 tablespoon butter melted
    • ½ teaspoon almond extract optional
    • 4 tablespoons ranola

    Instructions

    • Preheat air fryer to 350°F (180°C).
    • In an air fryer safe baking dish, mix cherries, maple syrup, melted butter, and almond extract.
    • Cook for 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through.
    • Remove and sprinkle granola evenly over the cooked cherries.
    • Cook for 2-3 minutes more until granola is golden.

    Notes

    •  If you’ve got time, let your cherries thaw. Just leave them in a bowl on the counter for about 30 minutes.
