Ingredients For Easy Oatmeal Cookies Recipe
- Quick oats: I love using this type of oatmeal because they cook up quickly.
- Flour: All-purpose flour is what we used, but you can try whole wheat flour for added nutrition.
- Salt: Balances the sweetness.
- Baking soda: Helps the cookies to rise.
- Cinnamon: Adds warmth and sweetness.
- Butter: Softened. Gives the cookies a rich flavor.
- Sugar: We used granulated sugar, but you can use brown sugar for added moisture and a slight caramel flavor.
- Pure maple syrup: A natural sweetener that provides a unique flavor.
- Egg: Gives the recipe moisture and binds the ingredients together.
- Vanilla extract: Enhances the overall flavor.

How to Make Oatmeal Cookies
To start, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the oats, flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
Next, in a stand mixer, cream the softened butter and sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy. This should be done at a lower speed to avoid overmixing.

Once the butter and sugar are well mixed, add the maple syrup, vanilla extract, and egg. Beat the mixture for about one minute until everything is well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, blending until all the dry ingredients are fully incorporated into the butter mixture. Place the mixing bowl in the refrigerator for 5-8 minutes to prevent the dough from becoming too sticky.
Set a timer to avoid leaving the dough in the fridge for too long, as this can make it hard to scoop.

Using a standard cookie scoop or a tablespoon, form the dough into balls and place them about 2 inches apart on a prepared baking sheet. Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes or until they are a nice shade of golden brown. Be careful not to overbake them.

Once they come out of the oven, transfer the cookies to a cooling rack to let them cool.

Tips for Making the Best Oatmeal Cookies
Tip 1: Make sure the butter is soft but not melted. Soft butter helps create a fluffy texture when creamed with sugar. If your butter is too hard, leave it out at room temperature for about 30 minutes before you start baking.
Tip 2: When combining the wet and dry ingredients, mix just until they are incorporated. Overmixing can make the cookies dense instead of soft and chewy.
Tip 3: Keep an eye on the cookies as they bake. They should be golden brown. Take care not to overbake them as they can become hard.
