Why Handprint Art Makes A Great Teacher Gift
As a former classroom teacher, I can tell you that the handprint art that my students made holds sentimental value. These keepsakes remind me of former students as they captured their tiny handprints.
Even years later, this art brings a smile to my face and reminds me of the impact a teacher can make.
Whether you use this project for Teacher Appreciation Week, the end of the school year, or just to say thanks, this activity is a perfect way to show your thanks to your child's teacher.
How To Use Teacher Appreciation Printables
- Download the pdf files (find out how at the end of the post) and print it out on white cardstock.
- Paint your child's hand with non-toxic tempera paint in a color that will work for the design (e.g., yellow for the trophy, green for the plant).
- Carefully press your child's painted hand onto the specific area on the paper
- Have your child wash their hands and let the paint on the paper dry.
- Have your child write their name on the paper.
- You can frame the artwork or just attach it to a gift card or other small trinket. It's up to you!

Amazon Essentials
You'll want to make sure you have the supplies you need for this handprint gift. Non-toxic, washable paint in various colors will give you many choices when making these. A thick paper like cardstock works perfectly, as the paint will not bleed through.
Paintbrushes or sponges work great for applying paint to little hands with minimal mess. You may also want a picture frame to present your gift. Of course, a good color printer is essential for any printing you will do.
You can find all of these supplies on Amazon and have them delivered straight to your door.

How To Expand On This Gift
You can make this teacher appreciation gift stand out in a few ways. I mentioned that you can frame the image for a darling keepsake. You can also do one of these for each child in the class and compile them into a book.
If your child wants to practice their writing, they can add the teacher's name and sign their name. You might want to have them do this before you make the handprint, as some kids are perfectionists and won't want to gift the printed item if they make a mistake.

If you want to add something extra to your present, you can attach a gift card.
