I have no idea where monkey bread got its name. Was it invented by monkeys? Do monkeys eat it? Who knows? What I do know about monkey bread is that it is DELICIOUS. It makes a great breakfast treat. I have typically made monkey bread in a bundt cake pan, but I decided to try it in a loaf pan instead. The results were every bit as yummy and resulted in a slightly smaller portion that I didn't have to have around days tempting me. In the past, we have made Monkey Bread French Toast, and this Monkey Bread Recipe is just as good!
Monkey Bread Recipe - this Monkey Bread loaf is so simple to make thanks to refrigerated biscuit dough. So gooey and delicious!

For this recipe, you will be slicing each biscuit into four pieces. The easiest way I have found to do this is to use a pizza cutter.

You can pour either butter or margarine over the biscuit pieces. We used butter on ours.

You will have enough biscuit pieces to make two layers in a loaf pan.

To make the glaze for the monkey bread, you just add some water to the sugar/nut mixture.

There will be lots of yummy glaze between the layers of dough.

This bakes for 30 minutes during which time your house will smell AMAZING!

You will want to serve this warm but not hot. The sugar glaze can get super hot, so make sure it has cooled down enough especially if you are serving it to children.

Easy Monkey Bread Recipe - so ooey, gooey and amazing!
You can flip the monkey bread over and serve it as you would with a bundt type monkey bread. That puts all the gooey-ness on top.

However you serve it, this monkey bread recipe makes a great breakfast, snack or dessert. Talk about versatile!
