This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Huggies. As always, all opinions are my own. My kids love the 4th of July. We attend a local parade, have a cookout, swim and gather with friends to watch fireworks. To help celebrate the season, we also love to do patriotic crafts. This Patriotic Painting with Bubble Wrap is a fun way to celebrate the 4th while experimenting with paint and play. It is also a great way to use all that bubble wrap you get whenever you receive a package. When you are done with this activity, try our Bubble Wrap Sheep Craft.!
Anytime, you mix kids with paint, you get a mess. It's just the nature of kids. Sometimes this might keep you from doing a messy craft. I have friends who steer clear of any projects involving kids and paint because they don't want to deal with the clean up. But my secret for easy clean up is Huggies® Wipes.
Huggies® Wipes can be found at your local store sold in an assortment of fun designs! Whether you like florals or have more traditional taste, there is a package for you. Our family uses them for just about everything – meal-time, play-time and even when we are out on the go.
Patriotic Painting with Bubble Wrap
You will need:
- Easel paper
- Red, white and blue tempera paint
- Paint brush
- Paper plate
- Bubble wrap
- Tape
- Scissors
- Huggies® Wipes
We taped a length of easel paper to the floor. The size you use will depend on the amount of space you have. I think a really long length of easel paper would be fun because it really gives kids space to move around.
Now it is time to make some bubble wrap boots. I used 12 inch by 12 inch squares of bubble wrap and simply taped them around my daughter's feet to make boots.
I squirted some red, white and blue paint onto a paper plate and used that as a paint palette. I was sure to have Huggies® Wipes on hand to clean up any paint I got on my hands.
I then used a paintbrush to paint red, white and blue stripes on the bottom of the bubble wrap boots. I think this would be tricky for kids to do on their own, but it is easy for an adult.
My daughter thought it tickled as I painted the bottom of her boots.
Finally, it was time to do some patriotic painting with bubble wrap!
My daughter ran, jumped and skipped across the paper leaving a trail of patriotic fun behind her.
Afterwards, she removed her bubble wrap boots. This left quite a mess on her hands.
We noticed that some paint had gotten on the floor too. Normally, this would have been a big inconvenience, but Huggies® Wipes did a fantastic job removing the paint from our wood floors. They are so helpful to have around since Kids Outgrow Diapers, Not Messes™.
It worked great on hands too!
We were really pleased with the colorful results.
But patriotic painting with bubble wrap isn't really about the end result. It is about the process. It is about being creative and making art in a different way. We were able to really let go and have fun with this messy art activity because of Huggies® Wipes. Since I knew they could handle any mess we made, I was excited about the project rather than dreading the clean up.
We can’t wait to paint with color for our next celebrated holiday. It really gets the kids in the holiday spirit and keeps them busy all at the same time! What’s your family’s favorite holiday?

What a cool way to utilize all those bubble wraps and perfect for the 4th of July too. I might have to do this the next time we get some.

That looks like so much fun but it will certainly make a mess! I use baby wipes for everything and we always use Huggies. I use them a lot on runny noses.
