Ingredients For Twinkie Cake Recipe
- Twinkies - With its cream center, the Twinkie makes the perfect base for a spring cake. Its texture is similar to a sponge or pound cake.
- Vanilla pudding - You can use pre-packaged vanilla pudding or make your own with a box of vanilla pudding and milk. Prepare the pudding following the directions on the box.
- Strawberries- Fresh fruit adds a refreshing flavor to the cake.
- Whipped topping - Use the Cool Whip in a tub, not a can.
- Sprinkles - We used pastel-colored sugar sprinkles, but any type of sprinkle would work.
How To Make No Bake Twinkies Cake
You will start this recipe by making the pudding (you can also use refrigerated pre-made vanilla pudding). If you are making pudding from a box, mix it according to the package directions. Then, you will place those soft, golden Twinkies into an 8 x 8 inch pan. I used this pan.
The Twinkies will form the base of our cake. You will spread a layer of creamy pudding over the Twinkies, making sure the snack cakes are completely covered.
Next, add some sliced fresh strawberries to the top of the pudding layer. Then add an even layer of the whipped cream. Scatter some pastel-colored sprinkles on top, and it is ready to go into the fridge! After 30 minutes, this delicious cake is ready to enjoy!
As soon as you taste this No-Bake Twinkies cake, you will remember your childhood. Everyone who tried this delightful dessert knew that it was made from Twinkies because of its recognizable flavor. People were amazed that a favorite snack could be used to make a dessert. Try this at your Easter or Spring gathering, and watch eyes light up as people take a bite of the familiar and beloved Twinkie served in a new way.
Tips For Making No Bake Twinkies Cake for Spring
Tip 1: Use pre-made pudding or make your own with instant pudding mix. If you are using a pudding mix, make sure you have milk on hand as well, and prepare pudding according to package directions.
Tip 2: This is a great recipe for kids to help make. Believe me, they will be very interested in helping when they see you are making a Spring cake out of Twinkies!
How Do I Store This No Bake Dessert?
After whipping up this delightful No-Bake Twinkies Cake, you'll want to keep it fresh and tasting delicious for as long as possible. The best way to store this is to cover it with either plastic wrap or aluminum foil and place it in the refrigerator. This cake will stay good for up to three days. Unfortunately, this is not a cake that will freeze well, so make sure to finish any leftovers within three days.
What Else Can I Add To This Twinkies Cake?
This cake is delicious as is, but maybe you want to add a touch of your own creativity to this recipe. One thing that would really complement the juicy strawberries is some sweet slices of bananas. Their creamy texture really works well in this recipe. You can slice them and add them to the strawberry layer.
If bananas aren't your thing, try adding a handful of blueberries for a pop of color and a burst of tangy sweetness. You can top this no-bake cake with a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce for a decadent treat!
What Kind Of Milk Do You Use With The Instant Pudding?
If you are using an instant pudding mix for this recipe, then you will need to add milk to make the pudding. I like using whole milk when I make instant pudding as I find that it results in creamier pudding. I had also made this with 2% milk in a pinch when it was all I had in the house, and it still turned out good.
If you only have almond milk on hand, you can use it to make instant pudding with a few adjustments. Make sure to use unsweetened almond milk so it doesn't affect the flavor of the pudding. A good rule of thumb is to use ½- ¾ the amount of almond milk called for in the recipe. So if the recipe calls for 2 cups of milk, use 1-1 ½ cups of almond milk.
Recipes To Make With Pudding
Pudding is a very versatile ingredient. You can obviously enjoy pudding on its own, but it also works in a variety of recipes! Whether you're looking to add a touch of creaminess or a burst of flavor, pudding can work in a number of dishes, from breakfasts to desserts.
Pudding makes a great filling for cakes, cupcakes, or pastries. It is also often used to add moisture to baked goods. But even no-bake desserts can benefit from an addition of pudding. Here are some of my favorite recipes that use pudding in a new way:
