We love to make shaving cream art. In the past, we made end-of-the-year teacher cards using shaving cream. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I have had lots of Valentine's ideas bouncing around my head. I decided we should make Valentine's Day Cards using Shaving Cream. You'll love the marbled effect of the cards and kids will have fun making them. Be sure to also check out our Valentine's Day Activities for Toddlers.

⭐Why This Craft is Awesome
- While this craft will require some adult help and supervision, it is fun for kids to make.
- Playing with the shaving cream is a fun sensory experience for preschoolers.
- The shaving cream produces a beautiful paper marbling effect.
- When the cards are done you can insert these wonderful Valentine's Messages for Kids from Blessed Simplicity.
🖍️Supply Notes
- Shaving cream or shaving foam - This will help to make a marbled effect.
- Red food coloring - To make these festive for Valentine's day.
- Popsicle stick - You only need one and you will be using it as a scraper.
- White cardstock - Don't use white copy paper or white construction paper. It needs to be thick paper like cardstock.
- Tray or pan - To contain the mess.
📋Step by Step Instructions
STEP 1: Cut the white card stock to a 5" x 6.5" size. Later you will be folding it in half.
STEP 2: Cut out some hearts from the red construction paper. You will need 1 heart for each card you are making. Make the heart smaller than the card size when folded in half.
STEP 3: Squirt some shaving cream onto a tray and add a few squirts of red food coloring to it.
STEP 4: Have your child swirl the food coloring around into the shaving cream. Make sure they don't mix the red in entirely or the cards won't have the marbled effect.
STEP 5: Have your child press down the card stock onto the colored shaving cream and then carefully lift it up.
STEP 6: After lifting the shaving cream-covered card, place it on a paper towel and use the long flat end of a Popsicle stick to scrape the shaving cream from the card stock.
STEP 7: When the excess shaving cream has been removed, put the cards out on a table to dry.
STEP 8: While waiting for the cards to dry have your children decorate the construction paper hearts you cut out earlier. Brush some glue on the hearts and then sprinkle glitter on them.
STEP 9: When the hearts and card stock have dried, fold the card stock in half and glue the glitter heart to the center. Shake to remove any excess glitter.
You will love the end results of these adorable handmade cards that your child can write out to their classmates.

Do I have to use red glitter on the heart?
We used red glitter, but you can use whatever color you'd like. I think pink or silver would look great as well.

Jeanette
When you scrape off the shaving cream with the popsicle stick, can you put it back into the shaving cream pile to use again? I'm hoping to get multiple valentines with one pile and stir of shaving cream and food coloring.
Vicky
Yes, you can totally do that Jeanette!
