With the warmer weather approaching, my kids and I have turned our attention to the outdoors. One of our favorite outdoor activities is planting. I can't think of a better place to plant than these pretty Drip Painted Flower Pots. They are fun crafts for kids to make and are so eye-catching. You can even fill these pots with the seedlings you get from this DIY Seed Starter for Kids.

    🌷Why This Craft is Awesome

    • Kids will enjoy watching the colors mix as the paint drips.
    • The pour painting rainbow pots make a fabulous Mother's Day or an end-of-year teacher gift. You can start the seeds at home and by the time they sprout, present the teacher with a gift of a beautiful pot and a new plant. • Great way to give new life to old pots.
    • Each one is unique!

    🖍️Supply Notes

    • Terra cotta pot - I used 6-inch wide planters.
    • Acrylic paint - In various colors. Use acrylic craft paint containers that have flip-top lids.
    • Tray - To contain the mess.
    • Waterproof sealer - Optional for outdoor use. If you plan to keep the plant pots outside, it is best to seal it with an acrylic sealer so the paint doesn't peel.

    📋Step by Step Instructions

STEP 1: Place the flower pot on a reusable plastic tray to contain the mess. Turn the terracotta pot upside down, flip the top on the paint, hold the bottle over the pot, and start squeezing to drip paint.

STEP 4: Move the painted pot to a different location on the tray so it doesn't dry with all the paint hanging off the bottom. Simply place your finger in the hole in the pot and move it. Allow the paint to dry completely.

STEP 5: Apply a sealer if you will be keeping the pot outside. Let dry.

Plant your favorite seeds or flowers in the painted clay pot. These pots are great for starting seeds.

    ✂️Expert Tips

Tip 1: You may want to have your kids wear a smock for this activity as it can get messy. We just rolled up our sleeves and were fine.

Tip 2: Let kids pick out various colors of acrylic paint to use on their pot.

    🤷🏻‍♀️Craft FAQs

How long will the paint on the drip-painted flower pots take to dry?

The more paint you have poured on the pots, the longer time they will need to dry.

Do you put any paint on the inside of the pot?

No, the paint is just for the outside.
