    Easy Easter Treats

If you're a busy parent like me, you know that easy treat recipes are a lifesaver if you want to make the holiday special without spending hours in the kitchen. Here are some of my favorite Easter recipes that can be made with a few ingredients and little prep time:

    Ingredients for Easter Nest Treats

    • Butter: Helps the marshmallows melt smoothly and adds a rich flavor.
    • Marshmallows: Hold the Rice Krispies together. Mini marshmallows work best, but regular ones work, too.
    • Rice Krispies Cereal: The base of your nests. Their crisp texture is perfect for this recipe.
    • Edible Grass: Adds that fun "nest" look. Found in most stores around Easter.
    • Whopper Robin Eggs or Candy Eggs: These make the nests fun and colorful, but you can choose any egg-shaped candy you like.

Kitchen Tools for Making Easter Rice Krispie Nests

You don't need much for this recipe, just a few basic tools you probably already have in your kitchen! A large pan is needed to melt the marshmallows and mix everything. You'll also need a heat-resistant spatula to stir without sticking.

How to Make Easter Nest Rice Krispie Treats

    1. Melt the Butter and Marshmallows

Start by melting your butter on low heat in a large pan. Add the marshmallows and stir frequently until they're completely melted and smooth. Once done, turn off the heat.

    1. Shape Your Nests

Once the mixture has cooled slightly, grab a handful (about ⅓ cup) and roll it into a ball. Flatten it slightly, then press your thumb into the center to create a nest shape. Repeat until all the mix is used.

    1. Add the Grass and Eggs

Once the nests are formed, place a pinch of edible grass into each one and top with a few candy eggs.

Tips for Easter Nest Rice Krispie Treats

    • Tip 1: Grease your hands slightly by spraying non-stick spray on them before shaping the nests to keep the mixture from sticking to you.
    • Tip 2: Work quickly when shaping your nests, as the mixture can set and harden fast.
    • Tip 3: Add a little food coloring to your melted marshmallows for a fun, festive touch that matches the springtime vibe of Easter!

FAQs for Easter Rice Krispie Nests

Can I make Rice krispie bird nests ahead of time?

Yes, you can make the nests a day or two ahead and store them in an airtight container until ready to serve.

What if I can't find edible grass?

If you're having a hard time locating edible grass, you can use shredded coconut that's been tinted with green food coloring as a substitute.

How do I store the finished treats?

Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Avoid keeping them in the refrigerator as that can make them hard.
