    Spring Rice Krispies

These fun treats are perfect for any springtime celebration or just because. You don't need a special occasion to enjoy these! They have the flavor everyone loves that you typically find in rice krispies treats, with the added texture and slight crunch from the spring sprinkles.

Because these are so quick and easy to prepare (just 4 ingredients and minutes of prep time), these treats are a go-to for any last-minute get-togethers. Plus, this recipe is naturally gluten-free, making it great for people with special dietary needs.

Rice Krispie Treats are so popular because they are one of those easy desserts that can be adapted to fit any occasion or holiday with just a few simple tweaks. The beauty of these treats lies in their simplicity and the nostalgic feelings they bring. Here are some of our favorite ways to enjoy them!

    Ingredients For Cereal Treat Bars

    • Rice Krispies: This Krispie cereal provides the foundation of the treat, giving it that signature crispy texture and lightly sweet taste.
    • Marshmallows: Gives the recipe a wonderful chewiness. I find mini marshmallows melt quickly and easily.
    • Butter: Adds a rich flavor and keeps the marshmallows from sticking.
    • Pastel Colored Sprinkles: These sprinkles really bring our treats to life and provide color and that little something extra that makes them stand out.

How to Make Spring Rice Krispies Treats

It could not be easier to make spring puffed rice squares. Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat. Stir in the miniature marshmallows until they have dissolved. Carefully fold the crispy rice cereal into the marshmallow mixture and stir until the cereal is evenly coated.

Then, gently mix in the pastel sprinkles. Finally, press the mixture into a greased baking dish and top with some more sprinkles. Let these marshmallow crispy treats cool and firm up before slicing and serving.

Tips for Making Rice Krispie Treat Recipe

Tip 1: When you melt the marshmallows, keep the heat on low to prevent them from burning.

Tip 2: Working with cereal covered in melty marshmallows can be a little messy. To prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands when you press it in the pan, spray your hands with cooking spray.

Tip 3: To get clean, neat squares when cutting, let the treats firm up and spray a knife with non-stick spray before slicing.

Can I Use Margarine Instead Of Butter?

Yes, you can use margarine instead of butter in these Rice Krispie treats. Since margarine has a similar fat content and melting properties to butter, it can be used as a substitute. Be aware that there might be a few slight changes to the finished product if you use margarine.

If you use margarine, it may slightly change the flavor of the treats, as the distinct taste of butter contributes to the flavor of Rice Krispie treats. You might also notice that the texture is slightly different, as margarine is usually softer than butter.

FAQs For Spring Rice Krispies Treats

How Do You Store Cereal Treats?

Store them in an airtight container at room temperature up to a week. If you need to store them longer, you can freeze the treats. Simply place them in a freezer-safe, airtight container. Stored this way, your Rice Krispie Treats can last for up to six weeks. Just thaw them at room temperature for a few hours when you want to serve them.

How can I make my Rice Krispie treats extra soft and gooey?

For soft and chewy results, make sure you’re using fresh marshmallows and melt them slowly over low heat. Stir just until melted, then mix everything together right away—no need to cook it too long. The key is gentle heat and quick mixing!

Can I customize these treats for different occasions?

Yes, you can change up these treats by adding food coloring to the marshmallow mixture, incorporating themed sprinkles, or mixing in ingredients like chocolate chips or crushed cookies.
