    These 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats are a fun and easy dessert you can make for friends and family. They would be perfect for a 4th of July picnic or barbecue. Add a little flair to a classic recipe and give it a patriotic twist!

    🥣Ingredient Notes

    • Rice Krispies Cereal - The basis of this recipe. This recipe uses 6 cups.
    • Marshmallows - You can use mini marshmallows or regular-sized.
    • Butter - I used salted butter in this recipe.
    • Red, White and Blue M&Ms - I have only found these in stores in the summer, but can you can order them anytime online.


    📋How to Make 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats

    STEP 1: Melt the butter in a large saucepan or large pot on low heat. 

    STEP 2: When the butter has melted, add in the marshmallows.

    STEP 3: Stir the marshmallows into the butter until they have melted and combined with the butter.

    STEP 4: Turn off the stove and add the Rice Krispies to the saucepan. Mix until all the Rice Krispies are coated with the melted marshmallow mixture.

    STEP 5: Gently fold most the red, white and blue M&M’s into the Rice Krispie mix. Save some for the top.

    STEP 6: Press the mixture into a 13x9 pan or baking dish the so it forms an even layer.

    STEP 7: Press some M&Ms into the top of the Rice Krispies in the pan.

    STEP 8: Let the rice crispy treats stand for 15 to 30 minutes before eating.

    Tip 1: If you're feeling festive, place small American flag picks in your rice krispie treats or place them on a table with red, white, and blue confetti or a patriotic tablecloth.

    Tip 2: Add some extra flair to these red, white, and blue rice krispie treats but stirring in some patriotic sprinkles or adding them on top.

    You can store them in an airtight container for 2 days at room temperature. You can freeze them for up to 6 weeks and thaw them by placing them on a counter for 20 minutes.

    Do you use unsalted butter in this recipe?

    I always used salted butter and find it makes perfect rice krispie treats.

    I have mini marshmallows. How much do I use in this recipe?

    You can use 5 ½ cups of mini marshmallows or a 10 oz bag of regular-sized marshmallows.

    Ingredients
      

    • 3 tablespoon Butter
