    Red White and Blue Cake

So what is the secret that makes this red white blue cake easy peasy? Box cake mix! It is a great shortcut that you can use that still produces a yummy tasting cake.

For Red White and Blue Cake, you will need:

    • 2 boxes of French vanilla cake mix
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 cup unsalted sweet cream butter
    • 2 cups whole milk
    • Red and sky blue gel food coloring
    • 1 bundt cake pan
    • Baking spray
    • Patriotic sprinkles

Red White and Blue Cake Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray the bundt pan with cooking spray and set aside. Using a stand mixer, combine the cake mixes, eggs, butter and milk and mix on medium speed until fully combined, about 5 minutes.

Divide the batter into 3 bowls. Add red food coloring into one bowl and mix until combined. Add blue food coloring into the second bowl and mix until combined. Leave the third bowl white.

Using a spoon, scoop a spoonful of each color into the bundt pan, alternating between colors.

Once done, place into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove when a knife poked into the cake comes out clean.

Let the red white and blue cake cool completely in the bundt pan. Once cooled, place a serving plate on the top of the bundt pan and flip the pan over so that the cake can come out onto the plate.

    Vanilla glaze ingredients:

    2 cups powder sugar
    2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
    3-5 tablespoon whole milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine all ingredients into a large bowl and mix until smooth. Pour the glaze into a measuring cup like this one that has a spout for easy pouring. Pour the glaze evenly onto the cake. Sprinkle some patriotic sprinkles onto the glaze and let the glaze harden before serving.
