Ingredients for Cheerio Rice Krispie Treats
- Honey nut cheerios - The honey flavor and the crunch make these perfect for this treat.
- Mini marshmallows - You can use regular sized marshamllows too, but the mini ones melt quicker.
- Butter - I use salted butter because I like the slight touch of saltiness it adds to the recipe. You are free to use unsalted butter as well.

Kitchen Tools for Cheerios Marshmallow Treats

How To Make Honey Nut Cheerios Treats
1. Grease – Give your pan a quick spray with cooking spray so the treats pop out easily later.
2. Melt – In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Keep stirring so it stays golden and doesn’t get too toasty.

3. Stir – Toss in the mini marshmallows and keep stirring until they’re completely melted and silky smooth.

4. Mix – Take the pan off the heat and stir in the Honey Nut Cheerios. Keep going until they are all coated in marshmallows.

5. Press – Scoop the mixture into your greased pan and press it down gently with a spatula. If it’s sticking, a little butter on the spatula works wonders.

6. Cool – Let everything sit at room temp for about 15 to 30 minutes so the bars can set up nicely.
7. Slice – Cut into squares or rectangles and enjoy right away or store for later snacking!

Tips for Cheerio Rice Crispy Treats
Tip 1: Looking for variations on this cereal bar? You can add a melted chocolate drizzle, white chocolate chips or butterscotch chips
Tip 2: You can also pop them in the refrigerator for a quicker set, but be sure not to leave them in too long, as they can become too hard.
FAQs for Cheerio Treats
To keep your treats fresh and chewy, store them in an airtight container at room temperature. They’ll stay delicious for up to 3 days. If it’s extra warm in your kitchen, you can pop the container in the fridge, just let the bars sit at room temp for a few minutes before serving so they soften up again.
You certainly can, but you won't get the irresistible taste of golden honey.
You sure can! I used cereal that I bought at Aldi and the treats turned out delicious.
These Honey Nut Cheerios Treats are a fun, easy snack that everyone can enjoy. Whether you're making them for lunch boxes or an after-school snack, they come together in no time and always disappear fast.
