Why this Easter rice krispie treat recipe is awesome
One thing I love about making these spring Rice Krispie treats is how easy they are to prepare. They come together in minutes and you don't need to wait that long for the treats to set and be ready to enjoy. Perfect for impatient kids and moms who love easy desserts!
Ingredients
Just your standard rice krispie treats ingredients: butter, mini marshmallows and Rice Krispies cereal. However, the addition of Pastel colored M&Ms really makes these festive and delicious. After all, M&Ms make everything better!
How to make rice krispie treats with M&Ms
Easter Rice Krispie treats are simple to make which is why we make them often at our house.
To make them, melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. You want the butter to be just melted, not bubbling.
Next, add mini marshmallows.
Stir with a silicone spatula until the marshmallows have melted and become incorporated with the butter.
Turn off the stove and add the Rice Krispies. Mix until all the cereal has been coated with the melted marshmallow mixture.
Add in your pastel colored M&M's and gently fold them into the Rice Krispie mix.
Spray a 13x9 pan with cooking spray. Press the mixture into the greased pan. I use a piece of wax paper to do this since it can get quite sticky. Simply place some wax paper over the pan and press down.
Press some M&Ms into the top of the Rice Krispies in the pan. Let this stand for 20 to 30 minutes before eating. I know it's hard to wait!
Slice the Easter treats into squares and enjoy!
These Easter Rice Krispie treats make a great snack for Easter or spring. The pretty pastel colors and chocolate just take a classic snack to the next level!
Why Did My Rice Krispies Treats Turn Out Hard?
This used to happen to me until I discovered that melting the butter and marshmallows over heat that was too high was the culprit. Be sure to use low heat. If your rice krispies treats are too hard, you can pop them in the microwave for a few seconds before eating.
How Do I Store Easter Rice Krispie Treats?
You can store them in an airtight container for 2 days. You can freeze them for up to 6 weeks and thaw them by placing them on a counter for 20 minutes.
