👻Supply Notes
- Orange balloons - I got mine at the dollar store, but if you can't find them there you can always order via the link provided. You can also use balloons to make DIY Stress Balls.
- Flour - This is used to fill the balloons and give them some weight and heft for throwing.
- Black permanent marker - To draw the eyes on the foam board ghost.
- Empty water bottle - This works best with a single serving size water bottle.
- Large sheet or foamboard or cardboard - You basically want something sturdy that will withstand having items thrown at it.
- Scissors or Exacto knife - To cut out the ghost. This is an adult step.
- Packing tape - I used this to attach foam board to the back to help the "ghost" stand up.
📋How To Make a Ghost Toss Halloween Game
STEP 1: Fill some orange balloons with flour.
STEP 2: To fill them with flour you will need an empty water bottle and some flour. Use a funnel to pour some flour into an empty water bottle.
STEP 3: Stretch a balloon over the top of the bottle.
STEP 4: Squeeze the bottle to get some air in the balloon.
STEP 5: Once you have air in the balloon turn the bottle over and shake some flour into the balloon until the balloon gets full. You may need to squeeze the bottle a few times to get more flour into the balloon.
STEP 6: Pull the balloon off the bottle and tie the end. Use your permanent marker to draw a jack-o-lantern face on the balloon.
STEP 7: On a piece of foam board, draw a large ghost and cut it out. I used an exacto knife for this step *do not let kids do this step*. Cut out a large hole in the center for the mouth of the ghost.
STEP 8: Use a black marker to draw eyes on the ghost.
STEP 9: Cut some pieces from the leftover foam to attach to the back of the ghost to make it stand up. Attach them using packing tape.
The kids loved Ghost Toss! It took them a while to get the hang of tossing the ball through the ghost's mouth. The poor guy kept getting hit everywhere but his mouth.
They played this game non-stop. They took turns throwing the 7 balloons into the ghost's mouth and after a while, they figured out how to aim the balloon better.
This simple Halloween activity was easy and cheap to create and has become a favorite that the kids ask to play again and again.
That's not to say there was no cheating...

I made 7 balloons. You can make however many you wish.
An 8-ounce water bottle is fine and it doesn't matter if it's a little bigger or smaller, it doesn't matter.

Tip 1: You can play this game indoors or outdoors. If playing indoors just make sure that you are doing it in an area where things won't get hit.
Tip 2: Making the ghost toss game is an adult job. Keep children away from any sharp objects.
