I made these Frozen Chocolate Snowballs for the first time over Christmas. I love easy desserts like this one! The result is a delicious treat that tastes like an ice cream ball-yup, an ice cream ball.

They are a hit with adults and kids alike. Don't forget to also check out this 3 Ingredient Hershey's Chocolate Pie. So easy!

Why these frozen snowball cookies are awesome

    • Melted chocolate and powdered sugar? Yes, please!
    • Easy to make no-bake dessert

    Ingredients

    • Vanilla wafer cookies
    • Cool Whip
    • Hershey's bars with Almonds
    • Powdered sugar
    wafers, chocolate and cool whip

How to make frozen chocolate snowballs

Break up your chocolate bars and place them in a bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds and stir. Keep on microwaving at 30 second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is melted.

    melted chocolate in a bowl

Place the thawed Cool Whip in a medium bowl, add the melted chocolate and stir. You don't have a lot of time for this step if you want the chocolate the get blended in really well. The chocolate will start hardening once it goes into the Cool Whip, so start to blend right away.

When the chocolate and Cool Whip have been thoroughly combined, chill the mixture for a few hours. While the mixture is chilling, crush your wafers into crumbs. The easiest way I found to do this was to place the wafers into a zip top bag and crush them with a rolling pin. I bet kids would have a blast crushing wafers!

After chilling, scoop out the mixture by the spoonful and roll in the crushed wafer crumbs.

After they have been coated with the cookie crumbs, pour some confectioners' sugar onto a plate and roll the balls through it.

These frozen chocolate snowballs will not be perfectly round since the mixture is still fairly soft. Place them on a cookie sheet or baking pan and freeze overnight.

When you serve these Chocolate Snowballs you will want to make sure your kids eat them right away. If they take too long they will start melting. Of course, that's always fun too!

    FAQs For Chocolate Snowballs

How To Store Cool Whip And Chocolate Dessert?

You will need to store them in the freezer. Once they have initially frozen, they can be removed from the pan and stored in the freezer in a zip top bag. Do not store these in the fridge as they will get too soft.

Can I Add Nuts To These Chocolate Almond Balls?

You certainly can. Some people like to add chopped walnuts, but the Hershey bars already have almonds in them.
