STEP 4: Top each slice of Texas Toast garlic bread with the sloppy Joe mixture.

STEP 5: Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

STEP 6: Return to the oven to bake for 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the bread has toasted.
STEP 7: Serve and enjoy.

👩🏻🍳Expert Tips
Tip 1: We used shredded mozzarella cheese but shredded cheddar cheese would work as well in the open faced sandwich.
Tip 2: You will want to serve these shortly after cooking them. Letting them sit will cause the bread to become soggy and believe me, you want it crispy!

🤷🏻♀️Recipe FAQs
Store any leftover ground beef in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Do not store the assembled sloppy joes with the beef on the bread as they don't keep well.
Yes, you can substitute either for ground beef.

I just buy a loaf of the Texas Toast bread; toast the bread in my 4 slice toaster until lightly brown, spread with with garlic butter, add meat mixture and cheese on top and pop in oven ( under the broiler) until the cheese is hot and bubbly.
Will make the same way using hamburger buns or could use slider buns.
Oh, sometimes I will use 1/2 beef and 1/2 sausage and will make my own Sloppy Joe meat mixture; making a large batch so that I have some to put in the freezer to use another time.
Never have leftovers, not with hubby around.

Hi Colleen, Wow, I love how you’ve made this recipe totally your own!And using half sausage? Genius! Freezing extra for later is so smart too (especially when there's a hungry hubby involved—no leftovers here either!). Thanks so much for sharing your version—I might have to try it your way next time!
