⭐Why You'll Love Air Fryer Portobello Mushroom Pizza
- A keto friendly, low carb, and low calorie meal or side dish option.
- Leave off the pepperoni for a perfect vegetarian, plant based meal.
- Ready in under 10 minutes!
🥣Ingredient Notes
- Olive Oil - Brushing with olive oil adds flavor and moisture to the mushroom.
- Portobello Mushrooms - The meaty texture of Portobello mushroom caps makes them a healthy alternative to traditional pizza crust.
- Mozzarella Cheese - I used shredded mozzarella cheese in this recipe, but fresh mozzarella would be a wonderful addition.
- Pepperoni - Gives the mushroom pizza a savory and slightly spicy flavor. If you don't eat meat, you can skip this ingredient.
- Pizza Sauce- You can use a jarred pizza sauce, tomato sauce or a homemade sauce. I like to use marinara sauce in this recipe when I don't have pizza sauce.
📋How To Make Portobello Mushroom Pizzas
STEP 1: Thoroughly clean the portobello mushrooms by washing them under water and removing any dirt. Dry the mushrooms with a paper towel.
If the mushrooms have stems, remove them. You can remove the gills by scraping the inside with a spoon. You can also just eat them.
STEP 2: Pre-Heat the air fryer to 350 degrees.
STEP 3: Brush each side of the mushroom cap with olive oil.
STEP 4: Place the mushrooms in the air fryer for 5 minutes.
STEP 5: Remove mushrooms from air fryer and spread pizza sauce on them.
STEP 6: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
STEP 7: Top with pepperoni slices. I like to cut the pepperoni into smaller pieces.
STEP 8: Place the portobello pizzas in the air fryer basket and bake for 5 minutes.
STEP 9: Allow the Air Fryer Portobello Mushroom Pizza to cool for a few minutes before serving.
