Apple Crisp Bars Recipe
Ingredients
Crust
- ½ c salted butter softened, room temperature
- ¼ c brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 ¼ c flour
Filling
Crisp Topping
- ½ c brown sugar
- ¼ c granulated sugar
- ⅓ c flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ c old fashioned oats
- 1 stick of butter room temperature
Instructions
- Prepare an 8x8-inch pan by lining it with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar together for 3 minutes until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and flour, mixing until well combined. Press this mixture evenly into the lined pan.
- Peel and slice the apples. In a separate bowl, toss the apple slices with flour, ¼ cup of granulated sugar, and cinnamon until well coated. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the prepared crust.
- Combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, and butter in a bowl, mixing until the mixture becomes crumbly. Distribute evenly over the apple layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is bubbly. Allow to cool before cutting into 16 squares.
