How To Do Bubble Wrap Stomp Painting

To set up the painting surface, roll out two long lengths of easel paper next to each other. If you have the room, you may want to put down three lengths of easel paper next to each other so kids have more space to jump and paint. Cut the easel paper and tape it down to the floor.

Pick out your paint colors. We decided to use two colors of paint, purple and red, but you can use as many as you want. Squirt some paint on a paper plate.

Cut a length of bubble wrap, wide enough to make a little boot on your child's bare foot. Loosely wrap and tape the bubble wrap around your child's foot. If your child is wearing long pants, pull or roll them up.

Dip your paintbrush in the paint and paint the bottom of the bubble wrap on the bottom of your child's foot.

We painted one foot red and one foot purple. I had my daughter sit near the paper and keep her feet near the paper so she would not get the paint on the floor. Some paint got on the floor anyway, but it was easily wiped away.

Now it's time to paint! Your child can walk across the paper with the painted bubble-wrapped feet. My daughter preferred to jump, but kids can also stomp and skip.

As kids move around, magic happens. The bubble wrap creates fascinating patterns, and each pop brings out bursts of color and giggles of joy. Don't worry about the mess; the tempera paint is washable, and stray splatters can be easily wiped away.

There was plenty of stomping and marching. As she moved around, she could hear the bubble wrap popping.

Once your child has finished their color dance, you'll have a unique piece of art - and maybe a new favorite activity. For a fun follow-up craft, consider making a Bubble Wrap Sheep Craft with the leftover materials.

What Can Kids Learn While Painting With Bubble Wrap?

Not only does stomp painting provide entertainment, but it also offers numerous learning opportunities. From developing motor skills to exploring colors and textures, here are some of the things kids can learn while painting with bubble wrap.

The bumpy texture of bubble wrap provides a unique sensory experience for children. As they press down with their feet while wearing the bubble wrap boots, they can feel different sensations.

This activity also teaches kids about colors and color mixing as the paint gets mixed while they stomp around. They will also explore patterns as they examine the boot prints in their finished artwork.

How Else Can You Paint With Bubble Wrap?

Painting with bubble wrap is a great activity for kids, as it allows for endless possibilities and unique designs. One way to paint with bubble wrap is by creating abstract paintings. You only need some bubble wrap, tempera paint in various colors, and paper.

Simply have kids dip the bubble wrap in the paint and then press it onto the paper to create colorful patterns and textures. Have them experiment with different sizes of bubble wrap (larger and smaller circles) for different effects.

    How To Prevent Slipping

My daughter had no issues with slipping or sliding as she ran and jumped. I think this was because a small amount of paint was placed on her feet. So, my biggest tip would be not to load the bottom of the bubble wrap with paint.

Place enough paint to get a good print without being drippy. Regardless, be sure to supervise your child carefully during this activity.

    Tips For Bubble Wrap Stomp

Tip 1: You may need to stop a few times during the activity to re-apply more paint to the bubble wrap boots.

Tip 2: If you don't want to worry about a mess, you can move this activity outdoors. Just set up the easel paper in your backyard and let your kids have at it. This is a great option if the weather is nice or if you don't have a larger area inside.

This art activity is more about process than product, but if you are interested in the finished product, this is what it looks like.
