Whether you are attending a potluck, having guests over, or enjoying game day, pulled pork is a classic recipe sure to please any crowd. This is the best pulled pork recipe I have ever tried, and I’ve tried a LOT. This Slow Cooker Pulled Pork recipe only uses 3 ingredients, so you know it’s easy.
Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
To make slow cooker pulled pork, you will start out with a 4 pound pork roast. You will also need some BBQ sauce and root beer. Root beer pulled pork has an incredible flavor. Do me a favor. If you have never tried it before, make this recipe. You won’t regret it. I used Not Your Father’s Root Beer because I really like the flavor. Stewart’s Root Beer has a great flavor as well, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand.
Place your pork roast in a crock pot. If you don’t have a Crock-Pot already, this one is a great inexpensive option.
Pour 1/2 bottle of Not Your Father’s Root Beer into the crock pot. Cover the pot and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours. If you have the time, try and cook it for 8 hours. It just gives the pork more time to soak in the root beer flavor.
Once the pork is done, it is time to shred it. Now you could do this with a fork, and sometimes I do that. But if you really want to be quick and save all the wear and tear on your hands, you’ll use shredding claws. These are my favorite shredding claws because they have handles and really make shredding a breeze.
Now it is time to smother that pork in BBQ sauce. If you have a favorite BBQ sauce, feel free to use it here. There are so many different varieties and flavors to choose from. We used Sweet Baby Ray’s.
HOW DO YOU SERVE PULLED PORK
There are a variety of ways to serve this crock pot pulled pork. You can serve it on buns of course. It is also great on it’s own with a side of potato salad. I like using the leftovers to make pork nachos. Yum!
