How to make this tater tot hotdish
You can brown your sausage over medium heat in a large skillet or in the microwave.
This dish starts with browned sausage that is cut and spread into a greased casserole pan.

Next, you'll mix the milk, eggs, salt and pepper in a large bowl and pour them over the sausage in the baking dish.

Now it is time to sprinkle on the cheddar cheese. If you will be serving this the next morning like I did, cover and refrigerate at this point. You will be performing the next steps in the morning.

Spread the tater tots on top of the cheese layer.

Add the remainder of the cheese on top and bake.

This tater tot casserole did not last long when I served it. I was lucky to snatch up a piece and it was SO good. The flavor can't be beat!

Not at all! This is an easy dinner recipe as well, whether you are using it as a main or side dish.
Yes. You do not need to thaw the tater tot potato before using them.
You can bulk this up further by adding some veggies such as onions and mushrooms.

I can’t even rate this - I agree with Grace, 1 cup of milk is WAYY too much for this recipe. My casserole is SUPER runny and instead made the tater tot’s soggy. It’s been in the oven for over an hour and still not cooked… had to throw it out!
Grace
Agree! I am SOOOO frustrated right now!! This casserole has been in the oven for 40 minutes and it is STILL soupy!! My family is hungry. They have been patiently waiting. 😩 I’m disgusted! One cup of milk is WAY TOO MUCH milk for 6 eggs!!!!! Horrible experience with this recipe!!! And I hate to cook! I was trying to do something nice for my family while we quarantine over this deadly virus. 😩😩😩

There's just two of us at our house, so this is a great breakfast casserole to last for the week. Individual servings froze well and that was so helpful for having a quick breakfast on busy mornings.

Very yummy and simple. I added a pinch of sea salt and about 1 teaspoon of black pepper and made my biscuits from scratch. Will consider serving again for potluck one Sunday morning at church.

Donna, this is not usually something I eat while watching calories as it is a bit indulgent. If you check out the calories for each of the ingredients you can roughly calculate something for the entire dish.
Donna
Was absolutely delish but would like to know the calories I just eat

This is a great dish! I used ground sausage and mini Tater Tots. So good! I found I needed more than 40 minutes as well. Made this several times now and just love !
