    Cheese Crackers Recipe

This easy cheese cracker recipe requires just five simple ingredients, making it a quick and convenient option for snack time. Packed with real cheesy flavor, these crackers are a hit for kids and adults alike. The recipe makes crispy crackers that satisfy cravings for a crunchy snack.

This is one of those kids recipes that work in a child's lunchbox snack, a party appetizer, or as an after-school snack. Since they are homemade, you know exactly what's going into them, unlike those store-bought crackers.

    Ingredients For Cheese Cracker Recipe

    • Shredded cheese - We used a cheddar/jack mix, but just sharp cheddar cheese would work great too.
    • Unsalted butter - At room temperature.
    • Grated Parmesan cheese - Mixes well with the shredded cheese to add a nutty flavor.
    • Flour - Forms the base of the crackers.
    • Salt - To taste.

How To Make Homemade Cheese Crackers

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour shredded cheese, Parmesan cheese, butter, flour, and salt into the food processor bowl.

Now comes my kid's favorite part - the processing! They loved watching the ingredients spin in the bowl of a food processor and combine to make a dough ball.

Wrap the dough ball in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to chill. Then, remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out using a rolling pin.

We used a small circle cookie cutter to make these, but you can make this cheese cracker recipe any shape you want. Cut out crackers and place on a greased baking sheet. You can also put them on a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Ours took closer to 15 minutes, but ovens vary. You will want the crackers to be slightly golden brown on the bottom. Remove from the pan and place on a wire rack to cool.

    make your own crackers

These cheesy crackers are crispy, crunchy, and flaky, with a texture similar to your favorite crackers. This is a snack you can feel good giving the kiddos! Just think of all the preservatives you avoided.

    Tips For Cheese Crackers

Tip 1: After preparing the dough, pop it in the fridge for about 30 minutes. This makes it much easier to roll out and cut and helps the crackers keep their form while baking.

Tip 2: Instead of cutting out individual shapes, use a pizza cutter to quickly slice the dough into tiny squares. It’s a great way to save time and still get those cute little crackers!

Tip 3: Add a dash of garlic powder, paprika, or dried herbs to the dough to give your crackers a little extra flavor.

    FAQs For Cheese Cracker Recipe

How do you store cheese crackers?

Store these crackers in an airtight container or a resealable bag at room temperature. They'll stay fresh and crispy for up to a week.

Can I make cheese cracker dough ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the dough and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Just make sure it’s tightly wrapped in plastic wrap so it doesn’t dry out.

Can I use a different type of cheese?

Feel free to experiment with your favorite cheese varieties. Any semi-hard or hard cheese should work well. Gouda, Gruyère, or even Pepper Jack if you want a little kick. For a more subtle flavor, you could try mozzarella or Havarti.

    Easy Kids Snacks

Quick, simple snacks like fruit skewers, yogurt parfaits, or veggie sticks with dip are fun to make and keep kids excited about trying new foods. Involving kids in making snacks turns snack time into a bonding activity and teaches kids to love nutritious food.

Just did it with my pre-schooler. I dont have a processor but I made the dough using my breadmaker, dough function for 10 minutes. I only have mozarella cheese in my fridge, so I replaced all cheese with Mozarella shredded cheese. My pre-schooler helps with pouring the ingredients into the breadpan, I leave the breadmaker lid open so that she could watch the dough being formed, she enjoys it very much! And it tastes good, though a bit salty to my liking, but -still great! My pre-schooler is enjoying her piece of art now. An activity to brighten up her day as she is having chicken pox and we are avoiding egg. Thanks for the simple recipe!
