Recipes Made With Slider Rolls
I love having slider rolls on hand because they can be transformed into all kinds of yummy creations. These soft, fluffy rolls can be filled with everything from pulled pork to mini cheeseburgers. Here are some other great ways to use them:
Ingredients For Italian Sliders
- Slider rolls - These soft and fluffy buns pull the whole recipe together. You can use plain sliders or Hawaiian rolls.
- Genoa salami - Brings a subtle spice and rich flavor to the sliders.
- Pepperoni - Pepperoni isn't just for pizza. They bring a kick to this sandwich.
- Ham - Sliced deli ham provides a contrast to the spicier meats.
- Provolone cheese - Adds a mild, slightly tangy flavor.
- Tomatoes - Gives the sliders a juicy, fresh taste and adds a pop of color.
- Onion - Provides a sharp, crunchy kick. I used a yellow onion, but a red onion would work as well. You can use your favorite type of onion.
- Lettuce - Shredded. Adds a fresh taste and crunch.
- Submarine dressing: It’s tangy, it’s zesty, and it pulls our whole dish together. If you can't find it, try hoagie dressing or substitute a vinaigrette dressing.
How to Make Italian Sandwich Sliders
Before we make these slider sandwiches, you will want to prep your ingredients. Slice up the tomatoes and onions and set aside. Then, slice all the rolls in half with one cut. Place the bottom buns in a baking dish pan. Add a layer of salami and pepperoni slices.
Now, add a layer of ham and provolone on top of that. Then, it is time to bring some fresh crunch to these sliders with veggies. Add a layer the juicy tomatoes you just sliced. Top with the sliced onions.
Sprinkle on a generous helping of shredded lettuce. Let's add some flavor with Italian seasoning. Shake that seasoning liberally all over the lettuce. Now for some zest! Drizzle the lettuce generously with submarine dressing, giving every bite some flavor.
Add on the top layer of rolls and press them down to keep all those yummy fillings inside our sliders. Finally, cut this into 12 sections, and you're ready to serve up some delicious bites!
Creating Italian sliders is easy and leaves you with time to enjoy your company. No complicated ingredients or cooking are needed to enjoy a simple and delicious meal!
Tips for Making Italian Sliders
Tip 1: Provolone is a great cheese, but you can try some other ones as well. Try some sharp cheddar for a bit of a bite, or maybe some mozzarella or Swiss. You may discover your new favorite combo!
Tip 2: I prepare these cold, but you can also toast the rolls before you layer on the filling. It adds a nice crunch and helps prevent the bread from getting soggy.
Tip 3: If you are entertaining, you can prep these ahead of time. Just assemble them beforehand without the dressing. Store in the fridge, and when you're ready to serve, add the dressing.
Tip 4: Experiment with toppings. If you love olives, add them! Or maybe some banana peppers or pepperoncini for some extra zing.
Can I Make Vegetarian Sliders?
To transform these into vegetarian sandwiches, you can easily replace the meat with a flavorful veggie patty or swap it for grilled portobello mushrooms. Both alternatives will still give you a delicious Italian slider, especially when paired with the mouthwatering combination of toppings, cheese, and dressing.
How Do I Store Cold Sliders?
To store these mini sandwiches, wrap individual sliders in plastic wrap or aluminum foil to maintain freshness and prevent them from drying out. Place the wrapped sliders in an airtight container to protect them from absorbing odors in the refrigerator. They can typically be stored for 3 days.
What Can I Serve With Italian Sliders?
Italian sliders can be served with a variety of sides such as salad, pasta, fries, chips, coleslaw, or roasted vegetables. Enjoy your meal!
