With summer on the way, we spend more time eating outdoors. We have our fair share of picnics either at local parks or in our backyard. Picnics are great with kids because the food is already on the ground so you don't have to worry about messes or spilling. In our family, no picnic is complete without dessert and these Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies are our favorite picnic dessert. Why? Well, most importantly, they are amazing! Seriously, the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever tasted. But equally important, they are easy to transport and just grab and go, which in my book makes them perfect picnic food. After your picnic, check out this Maple Snickerdoodles Cookie Recipe, our Brown Butter Heath Bar Cookies and this Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie. Yum!

These easy chocolate chip cookies are the best I have ever made! Soft, chewy and full of chips! A must try cookie recipe.

This is the third month that I am participating in the Kids' Kitchen Monthly Blog Hop. Once a month, I'll be joining some of my favorite kid bloggers in sharing recipes that are perfect for making with kids. This month, we are each sharing our favorite picnic picks. After you try out these easy chocolate chip cookies, check out the links at the bottom of the post for more picnic ideas from the other participating bloggers.

    Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Not only are these easy chocolate chip cookies a kid favorite, but they are great to make with kids as well. My daughter loved helping with all the steps from pouring to measuring, scooping and mixing. She got a big kick out of turning on the mixer. Please supervise children while cooking.

After the batter was mixed, we dropped spoonfuls onto a parchment lined cookie sheet.

The key to getting these cookies to be incredibly chewy is to take them out 1-2 minutes before you normally would. Let them cool on a wire rack.

My favorite thing about these easy chocolate chip cookies are the fact that they stay soft. They are not just soft right after they come out of the oven, but remain soft even days later.

These travel well in a plastic container, but I have to tell you they are absolute perfection when they are fresh out of the oven and still a little warm. Oh my goodness!

You can play with this recipe a bit and add nuts or raisins. But when you want to make easy chocolate chip cookies, this is your new go-to recipe.

    DO YOUR KIDS LOVE COOKING?

I have long been a proponent of cooking with kids. There are so many things kids learn helping out in the kitchen. Math, reading, chemistry and cooperation and more are used while following a recipe.

Raddish is a monthly subscription box for kids that is a cooking club, culinary lesson, and mealtime solution all-in-one. Young children get to work with an adult, while older kids and teens independently indulge their culinary curiosity! And it's perfect for picky eaters — kids who cook, eat!

A new kit is delivered to your doorstep every month!

Each kit features a new culinary theme! You'll also get a shopping list emailed to you prior to delivery so you will be ready to cook. These kits are a great way for kids to develop new cooking skills and confidence in the kitchen while the entire family builds memories together. Find out more here.
